Who Made It: Your purchase gives poor women living in a slum pocket of Ahmedabad the opportunity to earn steadier employment and fair wages for their hand-crafted embroidery.
Since 1990, SERRV International has partnered with women artisans in Ahmedabad, providing a long-term trading partnership and interest-free advance payment for our orders. Through sales of their products, Hindu, Muslim, and Christian women— many who are the sole breadwinners for their families— receive education, fair wages, and health programs, as well as savings and loan programs. Women artisans in India can also send their children to school to avoid child labor.
SERRV international is one of the first fair trade organizations in the world. They began their mission by helping displaced European refugees trade their handcrafts for income after the Second World War. Since then, SERRV has extended their reach to 24 countries worldwide, working to empower over 8,000 artisans and farmers every year by selling their beautiful handcrafts.
