Who Made It: Your purchase of handcrafted jewelry helps artisans outside one of Nairobi's oldest and largest slums put food on their tables, secure shelter and clothing, and send their children to school.

Since 1989, SERRV International has partnered with artisans in Nairobi, providing a long-term trading partnership and interest-free advance payment for our orders. Through sales of their products, artisans receive a monthly income, training, and participation in a profit-sharing plan to set aside 10% of their earnings each month in a pension plan. Inspiration for new products comes from traditional African jewelry designs and incorporates beads from local family batik bone bead producers.

SERRV international is one of the first fair trade organizations in the world. They began their mission by helping displaced European refugees trade their handcrafts for income after the Second World War. Since then, SERRV has extended their reach to 24 countries worldwide, working to empower over 8,000 artisans and farmers every year
