Ideal for storage, carriage, or colorful decor, this miniature woven basket in our popular grasslands pattern is crafted by women weavers in the Bolgatanga region of Ghana earning a sustainable income. Each one is made from natural elephant grass dyed and woven using traditional techniques, patterns, and colors. Makes a great do-it-yourself gift basket! Who Made It: SERRV international is one of the first fair trade organizations in the world. They began their mission by helping displaced European refugees trade their handcrafts for income after the Second World War. Since then, SERRV has extended their reach to 24 countries worldwide, working to empower over 8,000 artisans and farmers every year. 

Reshaping Your Bolgatanga Basket: Our artisan partners fold this basket in order to ship more efficiently. To remove creases and restore its shape, dampen basket with a spray bottle or other water source, or by submerging in water for 1 minute. Let it rest for 5 minutes to allow grass to absorb the moisture and become pliable. Bend and press the basket into shape--don't worry, it won't break. Allow it to air dry before use and enjoy your beautiful handwoven basket from Ghana!
