This intricate Persian rug was hand-knotted by Asghar Jolaha, an artisan from the village of Chistian, Pakistan. Its floral design begins on graph paper, where every detail is carefully mapped before being translated into a weaving language called talam.

For an expert knotter, the work moves quickly, with more than 40 knots tied per minute. Knot by knot, color by color, Asghar has created a piece of art built to be treasured for generations.
