Bright Stripe Tote Basket

Made with hand-dyed elephant grass in cheerful pinks and warm summery tones, this unique handmade basket is the perfect way to carry groceries, farmer's market finds and more. Each African basket, made entirely by hand by a skilled artisan in the Bolgatanga region of Ghana, features traditional patterns and colors and two easy-carry handles. Due to handmade nature, color and shape may vary slightly.

Reshaping your Bolgatanga basket: Our artisan partners fold this basket in order to ship more efficiently. To remove creases and restore its shape, dampen basket with a spray bottle or other water source, or by submerging in water for 1 minute. Let it rest for 5 minutes to allow grass to absorb the moisture and become pliable. Bend and press the basket into shape & don't worry, it won't break. Allow it to air dry before use and enjoy your beautiful handwoven basket from Ghana!

Who Made It: SERRV international is one of the first fair trade organizations in the world. They began their mission by helping displaced European refugees trade their handcrafts for income after the Second World War. Since then, SERRV has extended their reach to 24 countries worldwide, working to empower over 8,000 artisans and farmers every year.
