These bowls are perfect for soup, salad, cereal, and more. Dragonfly and botanical patterns painted in deep spruce beautifully complement creamy white and celadon glazes on this one-of-a-kind large bowl. Expertly crafted in the ancient Vietnamese village of Bat Trang, long celebrated for its tradition of creating fine stoneware. Due to variations in the clay, some ceramics may develop a crackle finish. This is natural and part of the unique beauty of each piece.
Who Made It: Your purchase helps preserve traditional Vietnamese craft skills while guaranteeing fair wages, safety, and social welfare for artisans.
Since 1999, SERRV International has partnered with artisans in northern Vietnam, providing a long-term trading partnership and interest-free advance payment for our orders. Through sales of their products, artisans who are marginalized or disadvantaged, including ethnic minorities in remote areas and people with disabilities, develop craft skills, design products, learn business skills, and organize into production groups. These artisans create handmade ceramics in Bat Trang, a small village on the Red River famous for its ceramic pottery since the 15th century.
SERRV international is one of the first fair trade organizations in the world. They began their mission by helping displaced European refugees trade their handcrafts for income after the Second World War. Since then, SERRV has extended their reach to 24 countries worldwide, working to empower over 8,000 artisans and farmers every year.
