Lady with Fan by Gustav Klimt was created in 1918 during the Art Nouveau movement. Klimt is recognized for his unique depictions of the female form with oil on canvas throughout his career and this was one of the last works he completed before his death. Klimt was considered a symbolist painter and is thought to have been heavily inspired by Japonism which can be noted in this work by the Japanese style kimono dress and fan.
