Irises is one of a series of still life paintings Vincent Van Gogh made after checking himself into Saint Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, in the last year before his death in 1890. Drawing inspiration from the garden within the asylum, Vincent masterfully captured their beauty by contrasting the lush bouquet over a vibrant background. The Irises were purple in the original painting, but the red pigments faded turning them into the iconic blue we know today
Who Made It: Every quilled card is beautifully handmade by a highly skilled artisan and takes one hour to create. Quilling Card, rooted in Vietnam, has a team of women who have become passionate about the art of quilling. Quilling Card provides a stable, safe work environment with healthcare and food benefits to all the artisans. In 2014, they opened their doors and were able to employ over 100 quillers. Now they operate two workshops with 500 locals in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.
