Tree of Life Coasters - Set of 4

Modeled after the popular Tree of Life, this set of four coasters is handmade of shesham wood in Saharanpur, a city in northern India that is a traditional center of wood carving. Set of 4 coasters fit inside hand carved holder. 

Who Made It: Your purchase creates income and social reform for hundreds of artisans in Mumbai and other parts of India, as well as funding community improvement projects for their communities.

Since 1976, SERRV International has partnered with artisans in India, providing a long-term trading partnership and interest-free advance payment for our orders. Through sales of their products, over 800 artisans in more than 50 cooperatives and family workshops throughout India receive needed income, interest-free loans, business and computer training, and advances to purchase raw materials. They also receive the support of welfare workers who help provide health clinics and education for children, increase sanitation, and improve living conditions.

SERRV international is one of the first fair trade organizations in the world. They began their mission by helping displaced European refugees trade their handcrafts for income after the Second World War. Since then, SERRV has extended their reach to 24 countries worldwide, working to empower over 8,000 artisans and farmers every year. 

Care Instructions: Wash before first use. Hand wash using a soft sponge and mild soap. Do not soak pieces. Not dishwasher safe. Dry thoroughly, then let air dry overnight. To enhance the natural beauty of the wood, periodically rub with food-safe mineral oil.
