Made by the best weavers in the villages, these double-weave baskets are always great quality and beautiful patterns. These baskets have double the vertical fibers of a G-140 Oval Basket, giving the weave a tighter and more refined appearance. Makes a perfect beach bag or shopping basket for the Farmers’ Market. Each basket has 2 leather handles and unique patterns and colors. Leather color may vary.

Who Made It: Local women who work with African Market Baskets in Bolgatanga, the largest town in the Upper east region of Ghana, supplement the family income by weaving baskets that are hand-woven using locally-grown straw. Basket weaving has helped bring much needed income to the villages surrounding Bolgatanga. The traditional skill has been handed down from generation to generation and provides employment to approximately 10,000 people, mostly women.
