Soapstone Owl

These colorful owls are a fair trade product handmade in Kenya. They are hand carved out of stone, sanded until smooth, and dyed. Then an artisan uses a knife to etch the patterns into each owl.

Each one is unique and hand-carved. Sizes and colors vary from the photo.

Who Made This: Handcrafted by artisans that work with Venture Imports. At Venture Imports artisan partners are mostly women who are fairly compensated for their work. They have access to interest-free loans, a safe working environment and education for their children.
