Hoja Santa & Sea Salt is made with fresh freeze-dried herbs collected by smallholder farmers in Oaxaca. Hoja santa is a traditional herb with a heart-shaped leaf, and it’s been grown continually since pre-Hispanic times in Mexico, on riverbanks and in backyards. The sea salt comes from a brackish lagoon in Colima, Mexico, dried using solar power. Use on proteins, fresh cheese, quesadillas, soups, tamales and mole.
Who Made It: Burlap & Barrel partner directly with smallholder farmers to source spices that have never been available to the US before and help improve the livelihoods of their partner farmers. Their spices come from farms from the most passionate & knowledgeable spice farmers (and foragers) in the world.
