Small Bolga Basket

These bolga baskets are made in Ghana. The variegated nature of the fibers adds unique beauty to each basket. Organize your things, decorate your home or bring it with you to the market! It's also the perfect gift basket when it's filled with fun items such as chocolate, tea, soap or lotion. Each one is handcrafted so there is variety in colors, shapes and sizes.

Who Made It: Local women who work with African Market Baskets in Bolgatanga, the largest town in the Upper east region of Ghana, supplement the family income by weaving baskets that are hand-woven using locally-grown straw. Basket weaving has helped bring much needed income to the villages surrounding Bolgatanga. The traditional skill has been handed down from generation to generation and provides employment to approximately 10,000 people, mostly women.
